World

Spira is the world in which Final Fantasy X and X-2 take place. Yuna devotes her time, skills, and life to Spira and its people, asking for little in return. When we first visit Spira in Final Fantasy X, it is haunted by the evil force known as Sin Sin: see here for more information.. Yuna and her guardians must travel all the way from the Island of Besaid (Yuna's homeland and, conveniently, the southernmost island in Spira) to the Zanarkand Ruins (also conveniently, the northernmost tip of Spira) See the map of Spira for more information. Map scanned by yours truly from the BradyGames Final Fantasy X Official Strategy Guide.. Along the way, Yuna and her party visit all that Spira has to offer, particularly seeking out temples where Yuna may obtain new aeons. In Final Fantasy X-2, Spira is, thanks to Yuna and her guardians, free of its fear of Sin. It, however, begins to develop new problems in its attempts to move forward.

The Temples

This is a quick recap of the party's initial visit to each temple in Final Fantasy X, and essentially a brief review of Yuna's pilgrimage.

Besaid Temple

Besaid is the first temple the party (technically) enters. Tidus and Yuna actually meet inside the Temple, just at the end of the Cloister of Trials Each temple has a Cloister of Trials which only the summoner and his/her guardians are allowed into. The Cloister presents a series of tests (or "trials") that the party must overcome in order to reach the fayth with which to obtain that temple's aeon., outside the Chamber of the Fayth The Chamber of the Fayth is a small, circular room that only the summoner is allowed to enter. The room contains the fayth (a statue, underneath a layer of glass or other transparent protection), surrounded by a small platform for the summoner to pray on.. Despite everyone else's opposition to Tidus—not yet a guardian—being inside the Cloister of Trials, Yuna doesn't seem at all bothered by his outright defiance of Yevon's laws. Yuna obtains Valefor from Besaid Temple.

Kilika Temple

Kilika Temple is actually a bit of a journey away from Kilika itself. The Temple is literally through the woods (which often present a hazardous and annoying problem).

Yuna: I want to ask you to be my guardian. All Final Fantasy X quotations are gathered from the game script at GameFAQs.

At the entrance to Kilika Woods, Yuna brings up the idea of making Tidus one of her guardians. The party quickly brushes her off, but Tidus ends up entering the Cloister of Trials once again anyway. Yuna and her party meet Dona and Barthello—a fellow, yet competitive summoner and her guardian—at the Temple. Yuna obtains Ifrit from Kilika Temple.

Djose Temple

By now, Auron has joined the party, bringing Tidus in with him as an official guardian, and Maester Seymour has begun to make his advances on Yuna. Yuna's duties as a summoner begin to overwhelm her, as she stays up all night healing the wounded and sending the dead, and oversleeps the next morning. Yuna meets Isaaru and his guardians (who are also his brothers) at Djose, and re-encounters Dona and Barthello. Isaaru tells Tidus there are rumors about summoners disappearing. Yuna obtains Ixion from Djose Temple.

Macalania Temple

The party hurries to Macalania Temple so that Yuna can give Seymour her answer to his marriage proposal. However, when Yuna is in the Cloister of Trials with Seymour, the party watches Jyscal's Sphere from Yuna's belongings and discovers that Seymour killed Jyscal, his own father. They hurry to the Chamber of the Fayth just as Yuna emerges, and the party fights and kills Maester Seymour. The guado interfere and take Seymour's body away before Yuna can send him, calling Yuna and her party traitors to Yevon. Yuna obtains Shiva from Macalania Temple.

Bevelle Temple

The party flees to Bevelle Temple immediately after Yuna's wedding with Seymour. The Bevelle guards follow Yuna and her party and arrest them just outside the Chamber of the Fayth. Yuna obtains Bahamut from Bevelle Temple.
